Meaningful change begins with feeling safe enough to be yourself.
Starting therapy can feel intimidating, especially when you are unsure whether you will feel understood, accepted, or comfortable being yourself. My goal is to create a space where you can settle in, feel respected, and talk openly about what is happening in your life without fear of judgment. Clients often experience me as relaxed, gentle, patient, and encouraging, and I believe meaningful change begins with feeling safe enough to be yourself.
As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, I work with children, adolescents, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship and family concerns, ADHD, neurodivergence, grief, mood difficulties, self-esteem, and other life challenges. I have worked with people from many different backgrounds and life experiences, including LGBTQ+ individuals, veterans, individuals involved in foster care, and those who have experienced homelessness. I am especially passionate about working with LGBTQ+ individuals and people from diverse cultural backgrounds, as well as helping clients develop practical coping skills for managing mental health concerns.
I take a holistic, mind-body-spirit approach to therapy because emotional well-being does not exist in isolation. Our thoughts, physical health, relationships, cultural experiences, behaviors, and sense of meaning and purpose can all influence how we experience ourselves and the world around us. I often incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand connections between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, while adapting our work to your individual needs, experiences, and goals.
As a proud, openly gay Colombian American man, I bring personal and cultural perspective to my work and understand the importance of having spaces where you can feel seen without having to explain or minimize important parts of who you are. I provide therapy in both English and Spanish and am committed to creating an affirming, culturally responsive environment for clients from all backgrounds.
Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy spending time with my husband, family, friends, and our two dogs. I love traveling, going to the beach, working out, movies, music, dancing, nature, and exploring new places. I am also a foodie and am always happy to discover somewhere new to eat.
Wherever you are starting from, you do not have to have everything figured out before coming to therapy. We can begin where you are and work together toward greater understanding, healthier ways of coping, and meaningful change.
